Use Different Style Links for Rashi and Tosfos planned

It would be nice to know if you are clicking on Rashi or Tosfos. Links that have both should also be identifiable. Possibly a different font. Right now it is almost like an "I feel lucky" link. I think that the style of the link should also not have an underline that makes reading harder (just the color is enough)

    Admin Response

This is a very valid point. The challenge is going to be in keeping the user interface clean and simple. If we have multiple colours I think it will overcrowd things. What do you think about letting the user filter the hyperlinks by Rashi, Tosfos and All? Administrator on 30-09-2009

Remeber Most Recent Used Daf. planned

To re-request something that was discussed in Google Groups - and it's not making $500 a day!

App should remember last daf viewed. (Either switch to it on app launch, or make it a green button on home screen).

Ideally, the app should remember the page, AND your position on the page. Also if you were using dafview, that too should be remembered, and also your position and zoom level in dafview.

    Admin Response

Agree with this idea for sure. It's on our list of next update. Thanks, Avi! Administrator on 02-11-2009

    gemara notebook Accepted

why not make a "Gemara Notebook" companion app (or seperate pane in italmud) for guys (like me) who have itouches

    Admin Response

Do you mean as a way of taking notes? Perhaps with an option to email or share the notes with other iTalmud users. If yes, that's something planned for down the road. Administrator on 07-10-2009

    Add in-app volume control Accepted

I have a first generation iPod Touch, without the volume controls on the side. Can you add in-app volume control for the shiurim?

    Admin Response

Problem noted. We will gladly add this feature if there is enough demand from the community. Administrator on 29-11-2009

Please Use Native iPhone Hebrew Keyboard Accepted

if the Hebrew keyboard is enabled, please detect this and use the native Hebrew Keyboard. You can always use teh current one if the user has not selected to enable the native Hebrew keyboard.

    Admin Response

We actually integrated the Hebrew keyboard and then decide to put back the old, custom-made keyboard. There are 2 problems with the native Hebrew keyboard: a) user needs to activate it from iPhone Settings. As far as we know there is no way for the app to detect if the keyboard has been activated by the user. b) Its not possible to load the Hebrew keyboard by default. The user needs to press a key to change to the Hebrew keyboard. This is confusing as it will make people think that the search is done in English. Administrator on 30-09-2009

    Background Downloading planned

When chosing to download an audio or a daf, can it be done in the background so we can carry on viewing pages while it downloads. this is especially helpful when wifi is not available. A bit like the itunes app on the iphone

    Admin Response

Really good idea! We'll try to do it in the next update. Thanks. Administrator on 08-10-2009

    page clippings Accepted

could u allow the user to virtually cut out pieces from diff dafim to review together? (ex. 1) like when you attend a lecture and the speaker gives cutouts from diff gemaras, or 2) when your rebbe says to look at gm' xy

    Admin Response

Great idea, but seems pretty complicated. Something to consider for down the road :) Administrator on 07-10-2009

Please Use 1 wide wheel for Daf selection Accepted

The narrow ones are a waste of time. Even for Bava Basra, scrolling would be quicker with a single wheel.

i would like u 2 make it integrate w- planned

I use dafyomi.co.il in yeshiva and they made a neat english summarization of all of shas. If u could make their content optionally download to be viewed alongside the daf, it would greatly enhance the user experience. (The website states that as long as the leilluy nishmas is left w/ the text, they don't mind anyone distributing it.) Lastly, there is a ton of other content (like charts for every daf and quizzes too) that can be utilized as well. If you haven't already, be sure to check them out.

    Admin Response

Yes, we have considered this. Certainly something planned for future. Administrator on 30-09-2009

    ipad

can u come out with a seforim booksheilf with a seforim store for the ipad? it should include all basic meforshim etc. Because the ipad is a digital book and app device which a much larger screen hat has potential to change the way books are read, it would be an excellent and casual way to view seforim. If you guys are succesful, i can assure you that you will get tons of buisiness. good luck on this one. I know u can deliver.

Fix rashi- tosfos accessibility at bottom line of screen planned

When the rashi/tosfos option is on the last line (in text view), it cannot be activated as touching it simply causes the general menu (next page, prev page, daf view etc.) to pop up. The only way to get around this (sometimes) is by shifting into landscape view.

    Admin Response

Valid point. Will fix in the next update. Are you using iTalmud or iTalmud English Edition? Administrator on 07-10-2009

    bugs: Accepted

1)The Daf calculator functions only with the date in US format. European formats are always calculating Brachot 1a (which doesnt exist)

    2) there is a discrepancy between the text-daf and the Image-daf. i.e. for today (Sept 29th 2009) it shows the Image-daf of Bava Basra 38 and the text-daf of Bava basra 39. (and the audio shiur of a third daf persumably)

    Admin Response

    1) Please can you explain how you entered a "European date format". Not sure what you are referring to. 2) Yes we are aware of this problem. It's limited to Baba Basra only and will be fixed. Administrator on 30-09-2009

    Search Bug completed

The keyboard that comes up when you try and the search function is no longer accessible. The "New! iTorah with English" and "Get iMishna!" buttons are in the way of the keyboard. Function useless as a result!

Thanks, Avi. We are aware of that bug and had already fixed and submitted update for Apple approval. Should be available within about a week. Thanks! Administrator on 21-12-2009

can you put in a chavrusa option? planned

Thru texting w/ skype or even w/ voip.

    Admin Response

Unfortunately building this kind of technology into our app is not financially viable. We could however integrate a chevrusa matchmaking service into the app to help people find a chevrusa in their area. What do you think? Administrator on 30-09-2009

    iTalmud bugs completed

    Hello

Can you please fix the various bugs found in Sanhedrin where I find many discrepancies between the text view and daf view , for instance Sanhedrin 15a leads you to Baba Basra 175a and other pages of Sanhedrin , even if u stay in Sanhedrin , u end up in a completely different page....
I cannot check thru the whole database , but it seems that the bug is mostly in the daf view , and does not concern the audio which I found correct sofar
CAN YOU PLEASE CHECK FOR THESE BUGS AND LET ME KNOW WHEN IS THE NEXT UPDATE . MANY THKS / OTHERWISE APPLICATION IS FANTASTIC

    Adding more hebrew rishonim planned

Could it be possible to go towards Iyoun level and add some more and classical rishonim like the Maharsha, the Rosh, Rif, potentially Ritba, Shita Mekubetset.
I know it's a bit of a dream but if you can get more pages scanned from the daf yomi edition, why not add rishonim for whoever is interested !

    Admin Response

We are working on it! We plan to include all major rishonim and achronim within the next 6-8 months. Thanks for your support! Administrator on 08-03-2010

    Bookmarks improvements

It would be nice to be able to attach a name to each bookmark (in order to remember a specific study attached to the bookmark) and also to be able to sort and group bookmarks freely under bookmarks categories (say makor of emouna, makor of yeoush, etc..., tosefoth references for specific difficulty...)
